My general rule of thumb is that I don’t do my swims / challenges to raise money – I’m not normally a big fan of that (see below). However I am currently undertaking the Aspire Channel Challenge and am trying to raise money for a charity that supports those with spinal cord injuries.
If you can spare a few pennies for this great charity, please see my JustGiving page.

I’m not doing this challenge to raise money for charity. I’m doing it for me, cos I want to. I don’t need the extra motivation of raising money for charity and any charity money I raise is not likely to help me finish that extra mile, I’ll do that (or not) through my own will power and determination. Whether I’m sponsored or not, I’m gonna (try to) swim Windermere.
You can read more about my views of fundraising in this post.
However, I am aware that some people like to give money to charity to support challenges like mine, so I’ve set up a couple of JustGiving pages. If you’d like to donate to either Water Aid or Sport Relief then please visit the pages. The people that receive your donation will be very grateful and you can be proud that you have done a good thing.
However, please don’t feel obliged to do so and more importantly, please don’t feel that you have in any way inspired me. I’m doing this anyway.
But thanks.
It is more about you inspiring me, and I’m sure as hell not going to swim 10.5 miles, so a donation it is.
Thanks Gareth – although I can recommend the swimming!
